During the seven years of my book elaboration, I met marvellous people who helped me without asking anything in return, they trusted me although they did not even know me and showed me a great generosity.
Entre ellas está Karla Layden.
Among them I would like to mention Karla Layden.
I met Karla at a bus stop in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I asked her which bus took me to the Metropolitan Opera House, where Julio Bocca was about to dance Le Corsaire. The fact is that Karla, an unconditional fan of Julio, was also going to attend that performance.
Ten days after that first meeting, I needed a place to stay, Karla, without knowing me, without knowing anything about me, gave me the keys for her apartment. That was the beginning of our friendship.
Karla has gone through difficult moments along her life, but always showing a remarkable strength of spirit, confidence in life and happiness for being in this world, things that have been an example for me. I hope one day the world will be filled with Karlas, for us to learn about love and solidarity.

Our common friend, Karla Layden, passed away this past Friday night (April 24, 2015). In searching for bits of her online, I came across this post. What a lovely tribute to her warm heart and constant curiosity! Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you Paul. I am so sad by Karla's death. I know she didn't want us to cry, but it's difficult to follow her on this!
Love.
